The most awaited event Google I/O 2017 started yesterday. It’s a 3-day event of Google from May 17th to 19th which showcases the company’s achievements, goals and innovations. Here are the most exciting announcements from Day 1.
- Google Assistant uses the technology called Google Lens which allow it to analyse wherever you point your camera lens. So whether it’s a flower or a storefront, you’ll definitely get all the information you need from your smart assistant. What makes it more exciting is that you can automatically login onto a network by pointing the Lens at the Wi-Fi login credentials.
- Don’t worry iPhone users because Google Assistant is now available on iPhone and iPad as a standalone app. It offers many features the same way it works on Google’s operating system.
- Google Home turns into a phone which you can make free calls to the US and Canada. It is now more useful because it can control HBO Now, SoundCloud, Deezer and much more. You can play your favourite music playlist or watch a video with a simple command.
- Android O is now on its first beta available for testing so you can register your Nexus device to start testing it.
There are more to expect like the Standalone VR Headsets and Android Go. Google is working closely to bring them to the next billion users of Android.
I’m sure everyone’s excited to try them all. We here at Overpass can’t wait to sink our teeth in.
Thanks Google!
