There are times when an app that you purchased would not work on your device, or it may not be the app that you were looking for, but you have already clicked on that purchase button. Don’t panic! Google Play Store has its Refund process for the app. It’s important that you request a refund as soon as you found an issue so the process would be easier.
Google Play’s Return and Refund Policy covers:
- Purchases that use your payment details without permission.
- If the purchased app/game was not delivered, did not work, or was not as expected.
- If an app/game was bought by accident.
How to request a refund for:
Unauthorized purchase
- Submit a refund request online which you can get the decision for the refund usually within 15 minutes or it can take up to 2 business days.
- Report unauthorized purchase within 65 days of the purchase.
Defective or accidental purchase
Refunds within 2 hours of purchase:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap Menu => Account => Order history.
- Find the app or game you’d like to refund.
- Touch Refund to complete your refund and then uninstall the app.
Refunds within 48 hours of purchase:
- Submit a refund request online which you can get the decision for the refund usually within 15 minutes or it can take up to 2 business days.
Refunds after 48 hours or more:
- Contact the developer who will decide if you are eligible for a refund.
So take note that you can only request a refund of an app/game once. If you buy it again, then you are no longer entitled to a refund. Make sure to keep your payment details and password safe to avoid unauthorised purchases, and download only authentic apps which include valid contact information for the developer so you can ask for a refund if needed.
