How To Request A Refund From Apple

November 28, 2016 by Rowena Gabriel Leave a Comment

Google Play allows app developers to process a refund for app users, but Apple doesn’t. However, you can request a refund from Apple as long as you have a valid reason.  Apple will contact you to validate your request and process the refund.

So here’s how to get your money back.

If you’re using an iPhone or iPad

  1. From Home screen, launch “Mail“.
  2. Look for “Your receipt from Apple“.
  3. Tap on the receipt of the purchase which you’re requesting a refund.
  4. Tap on “Report a Problem“.
  5. Log in with your Apple ID and password.
  6. Tap “Choose Problem” and pick a problem from the menu.
  7. Enter a description of your problem then hit “Submit”.

If you’re using the web

  1. Visit Apple’s problem reports page http://reportaproblem.apple.com/
  2. Log in with your Apple ID and password.
  3. Select one from the tabs–all, music, movies, TV, shows, apps or books.
  4. The Purchases will show up, then choose “Report a Problem” next to the one you want a refund.
  5. Click on “Choose Problem” then select your problem from the menu.
  6. Enter a description of your problem then click “Submit”.

If you’re using iTunes on Mac or Windows.

  1. Launch iTunes on Mac/Windows.
  2. Click on “Account“.
  3. Log in with your Apple ID and password.
  4. Under “Purchase History“, click on “See All“.
  5. Click on the arrow next to the purchase batch that includes the one that you want to request a refund.
  6. At the bottom of the purchase batch, Click on “Report a Problem“.
  7. Click on “Report a Problem” next to the item you want to report then you will be redirected to Apple’s problem reports page.
  8. Log in with your Apple ID and password.
  9. Select one from the tabs–all, music, movies, TV, shows, apps or books.
  10. Select “Report a Problem” next to the item you want to refund.
  11. Click on “Choose Problem” then select your problem from the menu.
  12. Enter a description of your problem then click “Submit”.

You will be contacted by Apple Support within a few days to verify your request and to let you know if it has been approved. You can contact your bank or credit card company to check how long will it take to be credited back to your account.

When Apple refunds your money, the developer also loses his commission so this process should not be abused or used to get a free trial.

We hope this has been helpful.
