Russia, also known as the Russian Federation, is a country in Eurasia that extends across Northern Asia and Eastern Europe. Other than its economy ranking as the 12th largest and having the largest reserves in the world for mineral and energy resources, Russians also boast of some interesting facts that they are actually proud of. Let’s take a look at some of them.
Russia is the largest country in the world.
Russia is the largest country in the world covering 1/8 of the planet’s land area at 17,075,200 square kilometres (6,592,800 sq. mi); thus they have 11 time zones. Russia also has one of the largest cities in the world which is Moscow.
Russians have strong family values.
Russians are family oriented people. For Women, they prioritise having a family, and once they have settled, their husbands and kids are the most important in the world. For Men, they are highly protective and good family providers.
Russia has the largest bell ever produced.
The Tsar bell weighs about 201,924 kg, 20.1 ft tall and 22 ft in diameter, made of bronze and is known to be the largest bell ever produced in 1735. It was ordered to be built by Empress Anna, thus its decoration represents the images of Tsar Alexey and Empress Anna. It is now on display on the grounds of Moscow Kremlin.
Russia got the finest Vodka.
The most popular drink in Russia is Vodka. It came from the Russian word “voda” which means water and was initially known as “bread wine”. The first Russian vodka was believed to be created by a monk named Isidore from Chudov Monastery in Moscow Kremlin in 1430, and since then vodka has been the favourite alcohol drink of Russians.
Beautiful dolls only in Russia.
The Matryoshkas are beautiful wooden Russian dolls that symbolise Russian National Art. Matryoshkas are delicately done by Russian artists, and the first set of dolls was made in 1890. Matryoshka dolls are also known as “babushka dolls” which refers to a grandmother or elderly woman.
Other interesting things about Russia include the Moscow Metro Station which is their fastest means of transportation and famous for its architecture; Lake Baikal which is the world’s oldest and deepest freshwater lake; and Russia is believed to have the most beautiful women.
